SAV:D THE WORLD — ONE CAN AT A TIME
We call it Clean sav:D — not just because it sounds good, but because we genuinely try to sav:D as much as we can.
For us at Clean it matters to save the earth's resources wherever we can, and that thinking runs through the whole organisation. We want to take our responsibility as a company to minimise our negative environmental and climate impact — and we make active choices for more sustainable production.
Clean sav:D is the result of exactly that thinking. We have gone through the product's entire life cycle — from contents to packaging and transport:
- 🍏 We use apple juice from rescued apples that would otherwise have gone to waste.
- 🔄 The parts of the apples that cannot be used — together with the residue from pressing — become biogas that powers local transport.
- 🇸🇪 All production takes place in Sweden, which means shorter transport and a lower climate footprint.
- ♻️ The packaging is a light aluminium can that can be recycled.
Clean sav:D is our most sustainable drink so far — a functional drink with function for the planet too.
TOGETHER WITH KULLAMUST
The apple juice in Clean sav:D comes from Kullamust, a press house in southern Sweden that has been refining apples for nearly 100 years.
Kullamust was founded in 1929 as a cooperative press house — the district's orchard owners came together to make use of their fruit. Since then, private individuals and local small growers have brought the surplus from their gardens to the press house.
At Kullamust, every apple is welcome. Apples arrive that have been sorted out because, for one reason or another, they do not belong on the fruit shelf. They may be too knobbly, the wrong colour, too big or too small, or perhaps too spotted. Apples stored at the wrong temperature, or knocked about in transport, also find their way to Kullamust. There they are pressed, filtered and bottled with care. With a balance between the fruit's acidity and sweetness and the apple's natural aroma, the result is a wonderful taste experience. Apples not good enough to press, and what remains of the apples after pressing, are sent to the local biogas plant and turned into biogas. That is what we call sustainable.

STREET ART
We are proud to work with Hellström Street Art, who created the orangutan you see on the can.
— Sometimes I get obsessed with things, and for a while I was obsessed with monkeys. Nothing much came of it at the time, but when Clean drink asked whether I wanted to be part of designing a can that would reduce fruit waste, I immediately thought of my old monkey. Why? Because the orangutan is an animal that eats every fruit and leaves nothing behind — I thought that was a perfect match.
